I enjoyed the concept of voice thread. I feel that it is a great way for a student to bring their stories to life. It is also a good tool for collaboration. If the students were to write a short play or a narrative with dialogue, the students could then work together and record different voices for the different characters. It is also a way for those artistic students to be able to use their talents to illustrate the scenes they described in their writing. It makes their work more personal than just writing a paper or talking about a few scenes in a prezi. Instead each student has their own personal narrated book online. This finished product is something that gives them pride in their work.
There are other ways to use this program, other than just writing assignments. For example, if I'm going to be absent I could use this for creating notes that the substitute teacher could play so that the students would not get behind in their lessons.Voice thread is versatile in its application and can make work seem like fun and not just more class work or homework.
If I could ask for voice thread to change one thing it would be the recording process. I've used a recording program called Audacity and it does what I would like voice thread to do. It allows the user to record and then edit the recording. For example, there were moments when I read to more of the story than belonged to the slide and I had to delete the entire comment and start all over. This was upsetting, especially if I had just skipped a few words or reread a line by accident. I personally have trouble with my accent and a pronunciation can sometime be difficult when I'm recording. So when I messed up one one word, again I felt like I should start that over again. Other than that I really like the way that the voice thread works. It is easy to import picture and is very user friendly. I look forward to incorporating this tool in the classroom. The Wiki was also easy to use. It was easy to edit and create an account and would make procrastinators like me at least do something before the assignment was due.
